Donald Trump Wins Twitter Poll for Speaker of the House

From @mattgaetz

With 83 votes tallied, President Donald Trump has won the Twitter poll for Speaker of the House with over 60 percent of the votes. Congressman Byron Donalds came in second with 18 percent and Congressman Kevin McCarthy came in third with 8 percent. 13 percent voted for “other” naming Congressmen Jim Banks, Chip Roy, and Thomas Massie, as well as Phish lead guitarist Trey Anastasio and Twitter user Dan Shreffler in the comments.

On the floor of the House, it has, thus far, taken 13 ballots to determine the Speaker with Kevin McCarthy receiving the most votes, but still falling short of a majority. This is the longest it has taken to elect a Speaker in over a century.

In accord with the Twitter poll, Congressman Matt Gaetz nominated and voted for President Trump for Speaker of the House.

Trump, who supports McCarthy, posted a meme of himself as Speaker on Truth Social.
